Welcome to LitChat. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and share information about you when you use our mobile application ("LitChat").

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

  • Account Information: When you sign in using Google, we collect your email address and profile name to authenticate your account and manage moderation.
  • Communication Data: We facilitate real-time chat messages between you and other users. Messages are transmitted securely and are not permanently stored on our servers after the chat session ends.
  • Technical Data: We may collect your IP address temporarily to facilitate WebRTC peer-to-peer connections and to enforce safety bans if you violate our terms of service.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and maintain the LitChat service.
  • To authenticate your identity via Google Sign-In.
  • To match you with other users for chat sessions.
  • To enforce our House Rules and protect users by temporarily or permanently banning abusive accounts based on community reports.

4. Third-Party Services

We use trusted third-party services to operate LitChat:

  • Google Play Services: For secure authentication (Google Sign-In).
  • Supabase: For securely storing user authentication records, account standing (report counts), and ban status.
  • Cloudflare / Upstash: For fast, temporary matchmaking data routing (signaling).

5. Data Retention and Account Deletion

We retain your account information only as long as you use the app. Chat messages are transient and are not kept in a permanent database.

How to Request Account Deletion:

You have the right to delete your account and all associated data at any time. To request data deletion, you can either:

  1. Navigate to "Settings" within the LitChat app and select "Delete Account".
  2. Email us at privacy@litchat.app with the subject "Account Deletion Request" from the Google email associated with your account. We will process your deletion within 14 days.

6. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your personal information. Authentication is handled securely via Google, and our databases are protected with strict row-level security.
